cosmic love

Today's song reccomendation is Florence + The Machine's "Cosmic Love" from their album Lungs. Enjoy! Watch the video too, it's pretty bizarre and visually pleasing :)

"The stars, the moon, they have all been blown out. You left me in the dark. No dawn, no day, I'm always in this twilight. In the shadow of your heart."

my take on music 2010

The Music of 2010
by lui mogenno

In my opinion, even do 2010 wasn't as good as other years in music, it was still pretty solid, featuring excellent comebacks from rock groups such as My Chemical Romance, Linkin Park and AFI, new proposals like Florence + The Machine, new young performers like B.o.B, Bruno Mars and Ke$ha, and the continuous rise of a more electronic/dance pop with Rihanna, Katy Perry, Black Eyed Peas and Lady GaGa. Not to mention massive hits like Eminem/Rihanna's Love the Way you Lie and Paramore's The Only Exception.

2010 had its ups and downs, but it was overall a great year for music fans of all genres. We all got some more of what we wanted, and it just left us biting our nails for what will happen in 2011... which is now.

But before we focus on this new year full of hopes and wishes, here are my choices for the best in music of the past year, 2010... Enjoy.

Performance of the Year
*drum roll*

Nuestra Aflicción / Panda (from Poetics)
To be honest, I have a weak spot for rock, not too heavy, but rock and this year, I was proud to see a rock/punk band from my country get enormous ammounts of attention with the release of their Unplugged Cd/DVD and their last single from double album Poetics. Of course I'm talking about Panda. If you haven't heard of them, you definitely should, 2010 was their year here in Mexico and it wouldn't surprise if they soon take over a bigger part of the world. "Nuestra Aflicción" is a sad song, strong, with powerful beautiful lyrics and a perfectly fitting video, and my ultimately favorite and most played song of the year.

Runner-Ups
The Catalyst / Linkin Park (from A Thousand Suns)
& Dog Days Are Over / Florence + The Machine (from Lungs)

Album of the Year

A Thousand Suns / Linkin Park
I was beyond amazed when I heard the new album from Linkin Park, it is a pretty amazing concept album, and one of the best I've heard in a very long time. It feels like the soundtrack to an apocalyptic movie, featuring new sounds that mix rock, rap, electro and lots more which I probably don't even know the name of. A Thousand Suns is a huge change from LP, and a very good one I might add.

Runner-Ups
CrashLove / AFI
Teenage Dream / Katy Perry

Video of the Year

Dog Days Are Over / Florence + The Machine
No words can explain it. Hands down, best video of the year. Florence + The Machine really were the huge surprise this 2010, bringing a new sound, the mind blowing voice of Florence mixed with those drums, it's just something out of this world, just like its video, so weird, so artistic... It's hard not to love it instantly.

Runner-Ups
The Catalyst & Waiting for the End / Linkin Park
Love The Way You Lie / Eminem ft. Rihanna

Song (Lyrics) of the Year

The Only Exception / Paramore
"And that was the day that I promised I'd never sing of love if it does not exist... but darling, you are the only exception" Simple, yet so beautiful, lyrics, you can tell this song was written with pure heart. A modern love song that I bet will not be forgotten, Paramore shows its soft side and I just simply adore it.

black swan

Written by Mark Heyman, Andrés Heinz & John McLaughlin
Directed by Darren Aronofsky
Starring Natalie Portman, Vincent Cassel, Mila Kunis, Barbara Hershey & Winona Ryder

"REVIEW"
Who ever thought a movie featuring ballet could be so intense, dramatic and scary? A disturbing, mind blowing, bizarre psychological horror/thriller brilliantly executed by ground-breaking director Darren Aronofsky. Black Swan will mess with your head and keep your attention fully on the screen with a script so amazing that just keeps on getting weirder and greater as the minutes go by, just to close up with the most exhilarating last 30 minutes you can imagine. A beautiful score, impeccable choreography, fantastic art direction and a breath-taking performance from Natalie Portman join to deliver an ultimate, out of this world, experience that you can’t miss.

the comeback

So after a month or so, I'm now officially back to posting stuff, I now have a more clear idea of what to write or post, just needed some time to... dunno... think and stuff...

I leave you with today's song reccomendation, this is a modern classic (at least in my mind)...

Let's get some rock in here... I present you AFI's "Silver and Cold"

"As a raptuorus voice escapes, I will tremble a prayer. And I'll beg for forgiveness"

death of a dream

ah you'll never change
I should have known better

that's how the inoccent pidgeon crashes
he trusts too much that he won't get hurt

he is given wings
and then they are cut off
and he is so high
he doesn't survive the fall

that's what you did to me
and now it's time you know
I'm never coming back
